Mercy crept along the many rows of long-empty seats, her slightly too-big paws silent on the velvet carpet. She sighed softly as she stopped at the front, staring up at the large, blank screen. Her mother told her stories about this place when she was younger. About how the humans would use a machine to show pictures up on the screen, of fantastical places and things. It was her favorite story, because her mother would always tell a different story for a different thing the humans would watch. This was the last place her and her mother had been together, and they had laughed more then they ever had before...
Before she'd woken up the next day, and her mother was gone.
Quickly, Mercy shook her head and growled to herself, tail lashing slightly. She needed to stop moping! One day, she was going to be an Assassin for the Sursum Pride, maybe more! She could not spend her days looking at the past. She needed to look forward, because if she spent her life looking back, she'd walk off a cliff one day. Scowling, she stood on her hindpaws and dug her forepaws into the back of a nearby seat, and dragged down, hard, leaving eight long, deep gouges and two shallower, shorter gouge.
Huffing, the cub padded toward the screen, and silently curled up in front of it, closing her eyes, and pretending she wasn't lonely. She couldn't afford it. Not if she was going to grow up to be as good as the other lionesses. Her tail tightened around her, and she pretended to sleep in silence.
