The eroded plaque on the side of the wall read City Park, but the the sepia eyes that scanned across the letters couldn't have read it. To the mind behind the gaze, behind these concrete walls was a jungle, and more importantly his jungle. The iron gates had been left open, sagging inward now as the metal rusted and began to give against the bolts, but still easy enough to wriggle through. Lunka did so now, his broad shoulders contorting to narrow himself as he weaved through the portal and into the maze beyond. He had wandered alone in 'his' territory for so long that he had at last decided to mark things as his own. It had paid off, as he was certain he had seen at least two more of his kin taking the signal of a safehouse for what it was when they saw it. He had yet to converse with any, figuring that should they remain he was bound to come across them and until then, was not the type to pry. Of all the places he had marked, he admitted to having a special preference for the jungle he now explored - though his forefathers were native to Africa and the open plains, he enjoyed the privacy that the cocoon of overgrown greenery allowed him. His footsteps were light, a path already wearing itself into the dirt for the number of times he had wandered it, and he ducked or jumped without nary a blink as he made his way to the heart of the maze. There was an abundance of food that skittishly crept through the forests at his passing, hoping he would remain oblivious to their presence, and as his stomach neglected to growl in protest, he humored the desperate clinging to life and did not take chase. Instead, he made his way to the lake. The water was comfortable, even on cooler days, and he found the waterfowl to be rather amusing. He preferred sitting on the bank, dipping his paws into the muddy shallows and watching as the smaller fish dared to come and nibble at the worn pads. On a rough day, he dared to venture farther, wading out until at least half of his massive frame was submerged, and allow the water to carry the burden despite not being overly fond of being unnecessarily wet. His thoughts were oddly quiet, and at the realization he gave a gentle hum of curiosity, but did not force himself -- even he knew not to take a ready day of relaxation for granted when it was offered. He had done enough for the day, marking and patrolling and the part of him that was always planning the next attack and it was enough of a start for him.

Ever since the humans had left them, life had been so much better. Thought she had never seen the park in its pristine state when the humans had kept up with it, she had seen it when it was only slightly overgrown. Now it was almost as wild as the forest she had been in earlier that morning. Bailey preferred the forests for that reason, they were untouched by human life. The park was much better than it had been by her standards. As she wandered through the grass had grown tall enough to reach her shoulders. The lioness kept to the taller grasses as she wandered through towards the watering hole. It was really the only reason for her to come to the park.
Her golden eyes scanned the area before her but her ears did most of the work. Her head remained low below the grass while her other senses kept a look out. She could faintly smell another lion from this distance, he was still a ways off. His scent seemed to be in the direction of the water as well. Bailey did not mind much though she wanted to meet the lion who seemed to have taken over this territory. She had been residing in the forest for quite some time but sadly a true pride had not taken shape yet. It seemed that was about to change though and she was quite interested in meeting the male that had been laying claim to Sursum pride lands.
She paused, moving behind some brush as she lake came into view. Her ears shifted forward, carefully listening for anyone else. There was no one. For now it seemed it was her and the male sitting at the water's edge. Never one to be shy, Bailey stepped out from the brush and made her way over. The slender lioness stopped a few yards from him. She watched him but not in a suspicious way, more curious than anything else.
"So, you're the lion that's been claiming the land around here?"
She questioned, almost in a way that seemed like she already knew him. But that was Bailey for you, straight and to the point even with a stranger.
"I'm Bailey by the way."
She offered, assuming it was probably more polite to also introduce herself. She doubted he would kick her off Sursum land, any smart lion knew they had to stick together. The tiger numbers were growing which made them a force to be reckoned with. The local lions needed to get organized and fast, Bailey hoped this lion would be the one to get the ball rolling.

Lunka stilled, watching as the small fish daring to nibble as his feet scattered to the shadows at the sudden change of his behavior. He removed his paws from the muddy shallows, body tense as he waited for the scent that had flirted past his nose to become stationary. Though certainly not familiar, it was one more familiar than another's would be that he had not once come into contact with, and a part of him was pleased to see the bearer was not sticking to one place. Her approaching footsteps were quiet, stealthy, and wondered if for a moment she were going to attack, or if it were simply the instinct and grace of a hunter. He shrugged it off, quickly rising to his full height before turning to see her as she spoke. Her words were forward, and it brought a faint smile to his aged features; he never had liked word games. "I suppose there could be another, but I will gladly take the title, yes. I am Lunka." He paused to shake the now itching grasses from his two-toned belly, stepping closer in the process to see if the darker patches along her body were shadow or blood. Though he wasn't one to keep a head count of the prey that called his forests home, it was easily enough figured that their numbers were dwindling when the herds had become so skittish."Well Bailey, am I correct in assuming you're also the one that has been claiming the game off the border?" He asked out of formal curiosity; if anything it was a merit to her favor, and he was pleased to know she was capable of fending for herself and still hanging around.
|| I am -so- sorry you've had to wait around for this! Also sorry that it's a boring reply :S ||

Today just seemed like the perfect day to stir up some shit, so that was exactly what Rehema was going to do. And she knew just the place to do it.
It was the scent of fresh markings that drew her, really. The possibility of wrecking a little havoc far outweighed the little fact that some cat might not want her on his land. So, decision made, she stepped boldly into the land of the Sursum pride, grin teasing her muzzle. Oh, this was bound to an interesting day. If she could only keep herself from gaining a new scar or two, it’d be perfect. The large lioness made her way across the land in a rather noisy fashion, her great paws crashing through the underbrush that coated the land. Silence wasn’t really something Rehema had been taught. No. She’d lived in a cage, lived to entertain people, so why teach her something that was never going to be needed? Tricks were the only thing those humans sought to teach the massive lioness, thus leaving her without the much needed skills she would need to survive in the wild.
Grunting, Rehama paused, testing the air. She could have sw- Yep. There it was. The distinct scent of a lioness. Oh, this was just getting better and better. With a little chuckle, the female trudged forward once more, her pace a quicker one now, easily following the scent of the pair.
Mere moments had passed before the quiet echo of two distinct voices caught the females’ attention. Alert, golden eyes landed on the pair that lingered near the water. “Well well well, what do we have here?” Rehema’s eyes swept over each lion in turn, her words escaping her as she stepped from the thick grasses. “A couple of little love-birds frolicking by the water?” She cooed, grin plastering itself upon her muzzle. Her words were incorrect, she knew. She’d caught the end of their introduction as she’d approached. But that didn’t stop her from trying to provoke a reaction.
Careful to keep a safe distance between herself and the pair before her, she allowed her rump to meet the earth, eyes dancing back and forth between the pair as she awaited a response.
----------------------- Notes! ; I suppose both your kitties could know of Rehema, since she's the only cat that has refused to join any of the groups[so far]. Or not. Either way is fine. All I ask is that you don't slaughter my girl<3 xD

She just stared at him expectantly, awaiting some sort of reply. It never crossed her mind that he might ignore her. Which did not happen anyways since he turned away from the water and walked a few steps towards her. He was a bit taller than her which was to be expected, and overall he seemed in decent physical shape. That was another good sign, it meant he was doing okay in the strange world they existed in.
"Nice to meet you face to face Lunka. That would be me, nothing like a good meal to start the day."
She replied, knowing full well she really was a good hunter for being raised in confinement. Maybe she could move through the forest silently, and tackle down prey on a regular basis, because she never accepted her fate with humans. Bailey fought them every step of the way, and the missing part of her left ear was a sign to prove it. The lioness finally had her freedom and was thriving in it.
Bailey quickly caught the scent of another cat approaching. She quickly turned her back to Lunka, allowing her to face the approaching lioness. For some reason she already trusted Lunka a bit. If he was claiming Sursum then it meant he was on her side. She decided to go with that notion and present a united front against the lioness she already recognized. Bailey had only heard of Rehema, the lioness who refused to give in and pick a side. Truthfully it pissed Bailey off, it meant they were another lioness short in Sursum.
"You must be Rehema."
She snarled, her lips already curling back from her long fangs. The muscles were tense beneath her short tan coat, ready to spring into action. Bailey had no problem with slitting this traitor's throat right here and now.
"I can tell by your annoying behavior, simply proving you are nothing more than a thorn in all our sides."
Bailey thought this to be completely true. At least the fools who joined Pariter thought they were defending some purpose (even if it was the wrong one). This Rehema just wandered around and did nothing instead, and filled her time with being a nuisance it seemed.
